WHO MADE THE LIST?
The sports staff of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and consultation with area coaches selected the top 11 players in the 12-county region in the newspaper’s coverage area.
The List is loaded with an abundance of talented players, many on the radar of college coaches. The players selected for The List were not chosen by position, but simply the top 11 players regardless of where they line up on the field.
Greenwood’s do-it-all Peyton Holt piled up incredible numbers as a junior as Connor Noland’s top receiver and Gabe Huskey dominated the 5A-West as a sophomore back in his first varsity season.
GABE HUSKEY
Harrison
CLASS Junior
HEIGHT 5-11
WEIGHT 170
POSITION Tailback
THE NUMBERS Huskey only had 58 yards rushing in the Goblins’ season opener against Mountain Home, then proceeded to run for at least 130 yards in 10 straight games, including his 35-carry, 341-yard performance with four TDs against Farmington. He finished with 1,862 yards and 27 TDs rushing, then added 22 receptions for 359 yards and three scores, but he was hurt in a playoff game against Hot Springs Lakeside and didn’t play the following week against Pulaski Academy.
HE SAID IT “I was a little worried because I didn’t have a great first game, but it all worked out. It was cool getting called up as a sophomore because I got to play with my older brother.”
