Politics in business?

It's about success

For the sake of good taste, I agree with Mike Masterson's assertion that companies should avoid taking sides in divisive political debates. But I don't think doing so means it's necessarily bad for business, as he maintains.

Consider Chick-fil-A, which positioned itself on the social conservative side in our modern culture war, only to find cars lined up around the block waiting for their chicken sandwiches. As usual, this dynamic is more complicated. The issue isn't a company taking sides; the issue is how successful they are in doing so.

Two Rogers candidates

willing to hear questions

Mid-term elections are soon coming up. This election is just as important as the presidential election, if not more so.

All of our state representatives, as well as federal, comp up for a vote. Also a great number of senators, state and federal.

I urge everyone to meet and get acquainted with all the candidates. We can go online and learn a lot about each one: background, voting records and goals.

My family and I live in House District 94 with Rebecca Petty as our state representative. She came by our house when running for her first term and ask for our vote. We spent close to an hour asking every question we could think of. She won her election and has lived up to every promise she has made.

Our state senator is Cecile Bledsoe. She is another elected official who works very hard for her district. Recently, she mailed out a questionnaire wanting our thoughts on several issues. Please take a minute to fill this out and mail it in.

Both of these candidates are available and willing to answer any question you may have.

Again, please go online, look at their records and call them. Their phone numbers are listed. They want to hear from you.

Region's lawmakers

need to take a stand

According to the plea entered by Michael Cohen Tuesday, Trump asked him to pay off two women in order to influence the campaign. This is a clear violation of campaign finance laws. Mr. Cohen's attorney has also indicated that Trump conspired to seek help from a foreign country to win the election.

I am asking that those elected to represent me, Rep. Steve Womack, Sen. Tom Cotton and Sen. John Boozman, uphold their oath of office and do the right thing. Impeach Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors. Stop the hearings on the SCOTUS nominee. They must stand up for the country and the citizens they represent.

Seating conservative judges and rolling back regulations for donor industries is not worth the damage being done to our country and the office of the president.

History will remember which side they were on.
