Asphalt work on a 2-mile section of Interstate 49 in Springdale and Lowell requiring overnight lane closings that were supposed to end last week has been extended through Saturday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.
The inside lanes of I-49 in both directions between Wagon Wheel Road in Springdale and Arkansas 264 in Lowell will be alternately closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day through Saturday, weather permitting.
Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs.
The work began Aug. 13 and was supposed to end Friday, but weather conditions required the lane closings to be extended another week, the department said.
