Meredith Caroline Velez became the bride of Grant Logan Hodges at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in First Presbyterian Church. Curtis Thomas of Redeemer Community Church officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Debra and Dr. Louis Velez of Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Norris and James Major and Miguel and the late Margaret Velez, all of Little Rock, Ruth and the late Leroy "Coke" Foster of Gravette and the late Gilbert Studyvin.

Parents of the groom are Karen and Stephen Fred and Christy and Garry Hodges, all of Ozark, Mo. He is the grandson of Jo Ann and the late Donnie Rand of Rogersville, Mo., the late Pearl Hodges of Houston, Mo., and the late George Hodges of Mountain Grove, Mo.

Music for the ceremony was by vocalist Matthew Cooper of Rogers, organist John Churchwell and a string quartet with violinists Leigh Wing and Beth Massa, violist Tze-Ying Wu and cellist Rafael Leon.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a strapless ivory douppioni silk fit-and-flare gown. Her ruched bodice had a beaded sash at the waist and the chapel train was embellished with cascading horsehair ruffles. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white and soft pink roses, peach ranunculus and eucalyptus.

Serving as the bride's honor attendants were her sisters Jennifer Malone of Alexander and Elizabeth Martinez of Bixby, Okla., and her niece, Isabelle Martinez of Bixby. Bridesmaids were Melissa Cooper of Rogers; Allie Barker of Little Rock; Heather Auvil and Brooke Robinette, both of Ozark; and Shannon Doty of Nixa, Mo. Junior bridesmaids were Addison Martinez of Bixby, niece of the bride, and Rylyn Robinette of Ozark, niece of the groom. The bridesmaids wore taupe, floor-length gowns and carried a smaller version of the bridal bouquet.

Flower girl and ring bearers were Renley Robinette and Reid Robinette of Ozark, niece and nephew of the groom, and John Isaac Malone of Alexander, nephew of the bride.

Wyatt Hodges of Jonesboro served as his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Chandler Hodges of Ozark, nephew of the groom; Mark Nabors of Sewanee, Tenn.; William Simpson of New York; Zach Musgraves of Rogers; Dr. Mike Norton of Lincoln; Isaac Foley of Little Rock; and Grant Addison of Washington. Junior groomsmen were Jack Michael Malone of Alexander and Aiden Martinez of Bixby, nephews of the bride. Guests were seated by Adrion Martinez of Bixby, Josh Malone of Alexander, Patrick Doty of Nixa and Travis Auvil of Ozark.

A reception at the Junior League of Little Rock Building followed the ceremony. Guests tables alternated elevated and low arrangements of coral, blush and lavender roses and candles in clear glass holders.

The bride has a bachelor's degree in human environmental sciences with an emphasis in child development from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy from John Brown University. She is in the process of becoming a licensed associate counselor.

The groom has a bachelor's degree in political science from UA where he was a chairman of the College Republicans. He is serving a second term in the Arkansas House of Representatives representing District 96.

After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Rogers.
