Naturals beat RoughRiders

FRISCO, Texas — Alex Liddi had three hits and three RBI, and Scott Blewett allowed just four hits over seven innings as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals topped the Frisco RoughRiders 8-2 on Friday.

Blewett (8-6) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked two while allowing two runs.

Trailing 2-0, the Naturals tied it up in the fifth inning when Alfredo Escalera hit a two-run home run.

The Naturals took the lead for good in the sixth when Liddi hit an RBI single, driving in Samir Duenez.

Cole Wiper (0-3) went two innings, allowing one run and two hits while striking out three in the Texas League game.

NW Arkansas improved to 8-2 against Frisco this season.

MIDLAND 5, TRAVELERS 4 Jonah Heim hit a walk-off single with one out in the ninth inning, as the Midland Rock-Hounds beat the Arkansas Travelers 5-4 on Friday.

Luis Barrera scored the game-winning run after he reached base with a double. The Travelers tied the game 4-4 when Dario Pizzano hit a two-run double in the sixth.

Reliever Joel Seddon (7-7) picked up the win after he struck out one while allowing two hits over two scoreless innings. Trevor Frank (1-2) went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run and two hits while striking out one in the Texas League game.

Pizzano homered and doubled, driving in four runs for the Travelers.

CORPUS CHRISTI 5, SPRINGFIELD 3 Carmen Benedetti scored on an error in the seventh inning to help the Corpus Christi Hooks secure a 5-3 victory over the Springfield Cardinals on Friday.

The error came in the midst of a four-run inning and cut the Springfield lead to 3-2. Later in the inning, Corpus Christi tied the game when Chas McCormick hit a sacrifice fly and then took the lead when Ryne Birk hit a sacrifice fly.

The Hooks tacked on another run in the eighth when Stephen Wrenn hit a solo home run.

Wrenn homered and doubled, scoring two runs for Corpus Christi.

Brett Adcock (2-1) got the win in relief while Springfield starter Genesis Cabrera (0-2) took the loss in the Texas League game. Kit Scheetz retired the side in order for his third save of the season.

John Nogowski homered and singled, scoring two runs for the Cardinals.

Corpus Christi improved to 8-2 against Springfield this season.
