The nonprofit organization's mission is to "provide lifetime refuge for abandoned, abused and neglected big cats, with emphasis on tigers, lions, leopards and cougars," that make up most of the sanctuary's population. The sanctuary is also home to a dozen bears, a macaw, a white-nosed coatimundi and a rhesus macaque.

The sanctuary near Eureka Springs has nearly 60 natural habitats on 450 acres for its nearly 100 animal residents. Organizers say two additional bear habitats are slated for completion by the end of the month. The unique enclosures are on 3.5 acres, "both filled with trees to climb, berries to forage, plenty of denning material, large pools to swim in and lots of space to roam."
