Fayetteville police launch investigation after man admitted to hospital with gunshot wound

FAYETTEVILLE -- Police are investigating after a man showed up to the hospital Wednesday with a gunshot wound.

Officers were called about 11:40 p.m. to Washington Regional Medical Center. The man, whose name police have not released, had a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to a Fayetteville Police Department news release.

The injury is not life-threatening, the release states.

Police believe the shooting was drug-related and not a random act. Officers do not yet know where in the city the shooting occurred.
