Midland shuts out Naturals

MIDLAND, Texas -- Norge Ruiz and John Gorman combined for a shutout as the Midland RockHounds beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 5-0 on Tuesday.

Ruiz (4-8) went seven scoreless innings, allowing six hits while striking out five and walking three to pick up the win. Jace Vines (2-2) went four innings, allowing five runs and nine hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out one and walked one.

Midland scored three runs in the second, including a two-run double by Eli White. The RockHounds scored again in the fourth inning, when Luis Barrera hit an RBI single and Tyler Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly.

White doubled and singled, driving in two runs in the win.

Anderson Miller doubled twice for the Naturals. NW Arkansas was held scoreless for the fifth time this season, while the Midland staff recorded its fifth shutout of the year.
