Absurdity of Trump deserves no shelter

Many Americans are fed up with the lies, ridiculous tweets and unethical actions of President Donald Trump. It makes no difference what his party affiliation is because this needs to be said about any American president who engages in such appalling behavior. The adolescent name calling, ludicrous tweets and making negative and damaging comments toward our allies strains our ties with them. President Trump refers to our allies as foes and aligns himself with leaders such as Vladimir Putin. It seems there’s some confusion regarding who America’s friends are and who they are not. President Trump also refers to the press as the “enemy of the American people,” banning certain press members from press conferences. Censorship of the press is in direct conflict with the First Amendment and is the action of a despot.

President Trump’s administration has been full of liars and criminals. Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort now faces charges of tax evasion and money laundering. Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kusher and Paul Manafort met at Trump Tower with Russians and then lied about the content of the meeting, stating it was about child adoptions. President Trump denied he knew anything about the meeting. which has been refuted by former Trump attorney Michael Cohen. President Trump’s current attorney, Jay Sekulow, has back-peddled over his statements related to President Trump’s role in the meeting with the Russians focusing now on not being aware of any statute or law being broken. Sounds like an admission. Then, President Trump’s other attorney, Rudy Giuliani, did the same regarding his statements related to the cash reimbursement to Michael Cohen for settling with Stormy Daniels. Both Sekulow and Giuliani got caught up in their lies and had to reverse their statements, blaming a lack of familiarity with the facts. That’s difficult to swallow considering the caliber of the attorneys and that the investigation involves the president of the United States. Then, after stating Michael Cohen is a good guy, Giuliani reversed his statement to say Cohen has no credibility.

Some critics claim President Trump’s administration may go down as the most corrupt in American history. It’s clear to see why if you examine the scandals, firings, resignations and the undermining of U.S. intelligence agencies. One of the most significant resignations was Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who was not able to effectively do his job because of the meddling of President Trump. Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be next to go for recusing himself and not ending the Mueller investigation. He’s still attorney general only because the Mueller investigation is ongoing.

Some Americans support President Trump because he’s an outsider to Washington. They like the idea that he has turned politics upside-down and has angered both Republicans and Democrats. They also like that he doesn’t try to please the establishment or conform to political correctness. They like that he has tousled Washington politics and for that matter world politics. However, we can’t overlook the deceit and corruption associated with the Trump administration. It’s past time for Americans to take the blinders off and not encourage absurdity.
