BENTONVILLE -- Chad Goss will seek his second term on the City Council this fall.

Goss is running for the Ward 1, Position 2 seat he was elected to in 2016.

Goss, 34, is the director of sales at L'Oreal. He was born in Little Rock, and moved to Bentonville at age 3.

Goss said he would like the council to continue its commitment to quality-of-life initiatives through investments in infrastructure, parks and recreational opportunities as well as support the city's employees.

"As Bentonville becomes an increasingly active community, my hope is that our council continues to support health and wellness programs such as bike trails, sports leagues -- both youth and adult -- and walking trails while being good partners with other wellness-focused organizations," he said.

The city adopted new ward boundaries in 2017 that will take effect Jan. 1. Candidates must live in the ward they're seeking election from based on the new boundaries.

Ward 1 will encompass the city's northeast, everything east of North Walton Boulevard and north of Central Avenue.

Goss also serves on the Advertising and Promotions Commission and the Bentonville City Sessions Advisory Board. City Sessions is a concert series where all proceeds go to care for orphaned and vulnerable children around the world.

He's a Bentonville High School graduate and earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications and political science from Ouachita Baptist University in 2006.

Bentonville will continue to see substantial growth in the coming years, he said.

"Growth is good, but it also requires thoughtful, forward-looking initiatives that combine the needs of the city's infrastructure with the expected quality of life desired by the citizens," he said. "It would be my privilege to continue serving our community as we navigate our future while holding on to what we love about our town."

Goss had no announced opponents as of Monday.

City Council members are paid $711 a month. The nonpartisan election will be Nov. 6.
