Witnesses say gun pointed; man jailed

Police arrested a Little Rock man after witnesses said he pointed a gun at another man Friday, according to a police report.

Edgar Cantu, 21, said he had the gun but didn't point it at anyone, but police found witnesses who said they saw him do it, according to the arrest report. Cantu was arrested at his home on Tedburn Drive.

As of Saturday evening, he was in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault and possession of firearms by a certain person, both felonies, according to the jail's online inmate roster.

His court date is set for Friday, according to the report.

Boyfriend accused of firing into vehicle

A man accused of punching one window out of his girlfriend's car and firing a bullet through another was arrested Friday morning, a Little Rock police spokesman said.

James Shaw, 40, had a fight with his girlfriend that began about 7:30 a.m., and police were called. Shaw reportedly broke one of her car windows with his fist and shot through the other while she was in the car, officer Steve Moore said.

Moore said Shaw then tried to get rid of the gun.

There were no injuries, the spokesman said.

Shaw was arrested about 8:15 a.m. on South State Street. When police questioned him, he admitted to the crime, according to an arrest report.

He was taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he was being held Saturday in lieu of $10,000 bond.

His listed charges were terroristic act, tampering with physical evidence and possession of firearms by a certain person. He has a court date Friday, the arrest report said.
