Robbers make off with walker's $20

Police say robbers, including one with a handgun, took $20 from a man walking near a Little Rock library early Wednesday.

The incident happened around 4:40 a.m. in the area of the Sidney S. McMath Library at 2100 John Barrow Road, according to a Little Rock police report.

The 34-year-old victim told an officer that two people approached him and said, "You know what time it is."

One of the robbers -- a black male who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds -- had a black-and-gray handgun, police said.

The second robber was described as a black male who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. He reportedly had a red bandanna over his face.

Authorities said the pair took $20 and fled south on John Barrow Road in a 1980s-model gold Chevrolet Caprice.

LR police ID man shot inside pickup

Police have identified a Little Rock man who was shot in a pickup Tuesday night.

Officers responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. to 7200 W. 12th St., the listed address for a Big Red convenience store. There, they found 22-year-old Tre James on the ground near the passenger's side of a Dodge pickup.

James was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound, according to a police report.

Authorities said the store's surveillance video shows a gunman walk from one vehicle to the pickup. Shortly after, the gunman and James reportedly fall out of the Dodge, and the assailant flees.

Man accused of soliciting sex act

A Little Rock man has been arrested after he agreed to pay an undercover officer for a sexual act, police said.

Melvin Stewart Jr., 28, was taken into custody around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of sexual solicitation, according to a police report.

Authorities said Stewart expressed interest in a sexual act and then agreed to pay $10.

Stewart's name did not appear on an online inmate roster for the Pulaski County jail as of Wednesday morning. He also faces a charge of failure to appear, records show.

Stewart was being held for authorities in Conway and North Little Rock at the time of his arrest, according to the report.

Store worker says thief pulled knife

A thief tried to stab a Little Rock discount store worker Tuesday afternoon when the worker followed the man outside the business, authorities said.

Officers responded shortly after 4:45 p.m. to the Family Dollar store at 1711 Main St.

According to a police report, a 21-year-old employee said he followed an individual who left the store with several items without paying for them. The thief then pulled out a knife and tried to stab the employee, he told authorities.

The robber was described as a black male who is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

iPhone stolen by would-be buyer

A man was robbed of an iPhone by someone he had arranged to meet via an app, Little Rock police said.

Officers responded shortly after 12:40 p.m. to the 11600 block of Huron Lane, according to a police report.

There, police spoke with a 36-year-old man who said he had agreed to meet with someone to sell an iPhone he'd posted on classifieds app Letgo.

The would-be buyer was allowed to handle the phone but refused to hand it back, the report states.

"Touch me, and I'll shoot you," the robber reportedly said before leaving the scene with the phone.

A suspect was named, though his name did not appear in online records for the Pulaski County jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
