ROGERS -- Rogers High coach Mike Harper pumped his fist as Cassie Gonzalez slid home safely for the winning run Tuesday evening at Veterans Park.

Gonzalez scored from second base somewhat easily as the throw from the outfield was high, giving the Lady Mounties a 1-0 win over Van Buren thanks to senior Allyn Hensley's two-out line drive single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

It was anything but simple for Rogers (17-8, 10-1 7A-West), which stranded seven runners in scoring position before breaking through in the seventh.

Hensley acknowledged many of the Lady Mounties, including her, were struggling to time the offerings from Van Buren pitcher Richelle Story. She had managed just two groundouts and an infield pop-up before coming up in the seventh with the winning run at second.

She lined the 1-0 pitch into left field for only Rogers' fifth hit of the game, but it was the game-winner as the Lady Mounties notched their fifth win in six games over the last week.

"Allyn's a senior and a great hitter and she came through in that situation and hit the ball hard," Harper said. "Cassie was real aggressive coming around third and they just did a good job.

"Sadie (Beeman) pitched outstanding. She hit spots really well. Even some of the hits they got were just check swings off the end of the bat. She had them really off-balance."

Hensley also made a great running catch just in front of the fence in left field on Cali Jones' drive to start the fifth inning. The Pointers (11-11, 3-7) left the bases loaded in that inning, too.

Beeman scattered six hits over seven innings for the complete-game victory. She struck out nine, hit two batters, but did not issue any walks.

Courtney Storey was Rogers' only player with more than one hit, going 2-for-3 with a double. Natalie Scherry went 2-for-4 for Van Buren.

Stacy was the hard-luck loser. She struck out two, walked three and hit a batter.

Bentonville High 22, Springdale High 0

Haley Cornell, Keelah Griffith and Amy Springer each hit home runs, and McKenzie Vaughan threw a one-hitter as Bentonville blew past Springdale in a game at Hunts Park.

Cornell hit a three-run blast as part of a 16-run explosion in the first inning as Bentonville (22-2, 11-0) sent 21 batters to the plate in the opening frame. Griffith belted her shot to start the second, then Springer added a three-run shot.

Vaughan only threw 25 pitches, 18 for strikes, to earn the victory.

Bentonville West 10, Springdale Har-Ber 0

Endya Moler capped West's seven-run outburst in the fourth inning with a two-run home run as the Lady Wolverines knocked off Har-Ber at the Wolverine Athletic Complex.

Jazmine Dodd had two hits and scored twice to lead West (20-6, 9-2), while Anna Griffin drove in three runs and Honesty Holt added two more RBIs.

Emma Wood pitched five innings and shut out Har-Ber on just four hits while striking out five in an 82-pitch outing.

Rogers Heritage 10, Fayetteville 1

Lora Brown went 3-for-4 with a home run and drove in two runs to lead the Lady War Eagles to the 7A-West Conference win.

Sydney Price added three hits and two runs scored, while Alexa Enos went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for Heritage (14-9, 5-4 7A-West). Kayla Paulo also went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. That was plenty of support for Sarah Pollock, who allowed a run (unearned) on three hits over seven innings. She struck out struck out nine and walked two.
