"If he hadn't been here, we'd have been on the bus going home early," said Van Buren coach Nathan Almond of Fraire. "He was really big, especially in the first half."

Fraire's play kept Van Buren (8-9, 3-7 7A-West) competitive, especially in the first half. The senior keeper had 12 saves in the match's first 40 minutes, including three diving stops, and another which he punched over the crossbar, that would have resulted in scores for the Mounties.

"We had our chances, but we're still having trouble finishing our opportunities," Rogers coach Stephen Peck said. "I think we controlled the game for the most part, but we need to finish when we have our opportunities.

"When you have a one-on-one with the keeper, and we had several, our shot selection is not very good. Our decision-making in the box is not very good when we are there. We tend to kick it straight at the keeper. "

Rogers (9-9, 4-6) outshot Van Buren 23-5, with 15 of the Mounties' shots coming in the first half. Almond said the Mounties had a significant speed advantage.

"We could not match their speed in the middle of the field," Almond said. "They had too much space, and we couldn't do anything with it."

Johan Rodriguez scored the Mounties' first goal with a header in the 12th minute. Willie Hernandez's goal in the 55th minute gave Rogers a 2-0 lead.

The victory gives Rogers an advantage over Van Buren, as the Mounties compete to be one of the top six 7A-West schools in next month's state tournament, which they will host. Rogers entered Tuesday with the same conference record as Van Buren, and Rogers Heritage, who the Mounties will play to end the season.

"It's still up in the air," said Peck of his team's playoff potential. "One good thing is we can say we beat Van Buren twice. We still have to play Heritage. At the beginning of this game, all three of us all had the same record. One good thing is we do have the better record than Van Buren and we have the two wins on them. "

Bentonville avenged its only loss in league play this season as the Lady Tigers blanked Springdale at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium.

Anna Passmore and Sara Roberts each scored a goal in the first half for Bentonville (15-2-1, 10-1), which recorded shutouts on consecutive days.

Springdale Har-Ber 5, Bentonville West 3

Erica Orellano had two first-half goals as Har-Ber defeated West at Wolverine Stadium.

Orellano's two goals sandwiched a goal by Annabel Weber, who had an assist on Orellano's first goal. Sydney Wyler and Kearstin Crumby each added a goal as Har-Ber enjoyed a 5-0 halftime lead.

Alissa Carlson helped West avoid a shutout when she scored with 18 minutes, 13 seconds remaining, then she added another goal at the 7:27 mark. Emily Evans then scored off an assist by Carlson with 3 minutes left to play.

Rogers 10, Van Buren 0

Skylurr Patrick scored four goals in the match's first nine minutes, as Rogers had three players score at least two goals each in the victory. Patrick's four scores give her 30 on the season, including nine in two games against the Lady Pointers.

Grace Carroll and Chelsea Arrick each scored two goals for Rogers, which scored all 10 goals in the first half. Ashlyn Babbit and Hannah West also scored for the Lady Mounties.

Rogers returns to 7A-West Conference play Friday night at Bentonville.

Fayetteville 5, Rogers Heritage 0

Georgia Templeton scored three first-half goals to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a shutout win.

Templeton's hat-trick started early as she drilled the back of the net on a feed from Myra Tubb for a 1-0 lead. Templeton added another goal on a free kick and her third came on another assist by Tubb.

Tubb scored a goal later in the first half for a 4-0 lead at the break, and Morganne Browning scored the final goal for Fayetteville on Tubb's fourth assist.
