Beaver Lake

Crappie fishing is good for anglers traveling far up the White and War Eagle river arms.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said fishermen are motoring up these tributaries to find clearer water. Use minnows four feet deep. Some anglers are catching their limits of 15 crappie, Whitehouse said.

All other species are slow on the upstream end of the lake.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers recommends using jerk baits, spinner baits or crank baits for black bass. Crappie are biting five to 10 feet deep on minnows.

Beaver tailwater

Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said the top flies for trout are pheasant tails, midges and hare's ears. Power Bait is the best trout bait. Use bright colors.

Good lures to use include small gold-red or red-silver spoons. Small Flicker Shads are worth a try.

Lake Fayetteville

David Powell at the lake office said crappie fishing is good, even during cold spells. Go with minnows or jigs and experiment with depth. Four to six feet deep is a good starting point.

Anglers fishing from shore along the dam are catching black bass with jerk baits and plastic worms.

Lake Sequoyah

Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said black bass are biting plastic worms and spinner baits. Try minnows for crappie five feet deep. Catfish are biting liver, shad or nightcrawlers.

Bella Vista

Nick Gann at Hook, Line and Sinker said black bass are biting crank baits at all Bella Vista lakes. Use Power Bait or small spoons for trout at Lake Brittany.

Swepco Lake

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass are biting a variety of soft plastic lures. Try plastic worms, Senkos and Ned rigs.

Eastern Oklahoma

Stroud said black bass at Grand Lake are biting jig and pigs or big spinner baits.

Table Rock Lake

The Missouri Department of Conservation reports good crappie fishing in the James River arm in coves three to 10 feet deep. Use minnows or white jigs.

Black bass fishing is good on swim baits, spinner baits and plastic worms along chuck rock banks.
