Detours planned at Galloway exit

Work on the Interstate 40/Arkansas 391 interchange at Galloway will require a series of overnight lane closings Wednesday and Thursday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews will close the westbound outside lane of I-40 and the exit ramp at Galloway from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, to move a temporary barrier wall, pave the final asphalt surface and move traffic to the newly constructed ramp.

Westbound I-40 traffic intending to exit onto Arkansas 391 will be detoured west on I-40 to Interstate 440 west then to U.S. 70 east and back to Arkansas 391.

Additionally, crews will close the eastbound lane and exit ramp at Galloway from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday to move a barrier wall and place traffic on the newly constructed ramp, the department said.

Eastbound I-40 traffic intending to exit onto Arkansas 391 will be detoured to I-440 west then to U.S. 70 east and back to Arkansas 391.

Message boards will be in place to direct traffic to and along the detours, the department said.
