Four central Arkansas high school seniors were awarded $1,000 college scholarships at the Oscar Washington, Jr. Educational Fund scholarship banquet, in the Saint Mark Baptist Church's Children & Youth Center on April 14.
Washington, who died last year of a heart attack, was vice president of customer service for Entergy Arkansas as well as the owner of a custom home construction company and a flooring store, and he was a deacon at Saint Mark Baptist Church.
His widow, Doris, and daughters, Stephanie and Sydnie, were at the banquet, organized in his memory by his friend Mark Leverett.
