A group from the Garden Club of Rogers attended the Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs State Convention in Hot Springs recently. Those attending were Marge Leonard, club president; Ronna Precure, State Awards chairman from Garden Club of Rogers; and Phyllis Stair and Debbie Main, club members. Historians

The Glade Community Historical Society will meet at 3 p.m. today at Coal Gap School and Glade Post Office/Store at 20659 Slate Gap Road in Garfield. The society meetings are open to members and the general public and are held on the fourth Sunday of the first month of each quarter. The last two 2018 meetings are scheduled for 3 p.m. July 22 and 4 p.m. Oct. 28. $25 annual dues for 2018 can be sent to Sam Reynolds, 20916 Slate Gap Road, Garfield 72732.

BC Dems

The Benton County Dems will meet at 11 a.m. Monday at Golden Corral in Rogers. The speaker will be Judith Tavano, founder of Trainique LLC and longtime educator at the University of Arkansas, who has been studying generations in the workplace for the past two decades. Tavano will speak on intergenerational communication beginning at noon.

Calico Cut-Ups

The Calico Cut-Ups quilt guild of Bella Vista will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive. The theme will be "Return to Learn." There will be several stations where a different aspect of quilting will be demonstrated. Some stations are reverse applique, sewing tips and gadgets, quilt as you go, hexies old and new, thread painting and hand quilting methods.

The meeting is free for members; $5 for guests.

Library Friends

The Bella Vista Friends of the Library will be holding a used book sale in the Encore! book room beginning Monday and continuing through Saturday. Everything in the book sale room will be marked to half price. The Friends are working toward the goal of groundbreaking for the expansion project.

Garden Club

The Bentonville Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Magnolia Room of the Bentonville Community Center. The program will be presented by David Wright, director of Bentonville Parks and Recreation. Wright will speak on the Play Bentonville Plan, a $70 million parks and trails project.

BV Gardens

The Bella Vista Garden Club will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. and features Connie Rieper-Estes, owner of Greedy Goats of Northwest Arkansas. The business meeting follows the program at 12:10 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend.

The club will hold its annual Spring Plant Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5 at Village Waste Water, located at 380 Bella Vista Way, just off U.S. 71. The club will have nearly 1,500 perennials, native plants, shrubs and trees available for sale to the public. Proceeds from the sale fund Bella Vista beautification projects and scholarships for area students majoring in horticulture at Northwest Arkansas colleges and universities.

Civil War

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the General Store at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale. The program will be "Caught In The Middle: The Civilians of Prairie Grove," presented by Teresa Watkins. The program is free and open to anyone with an interest in Civil War history.

Legion 274

American Legion Post 274 is holding a spring fling rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the post, located at 154 Glenwood Ave. in Cave Springs.

This is a multi-family sale and will include baked treats and a variety of goods.

Stage IV

Hope Cancer Resources offers a support group for men and women living with any type of stage IV cancer. The group will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Members must RSVP to attend.

Naturalists

The Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists will be selling native plants from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks annual plant sale. Native trees, shrubs, grasses and flowering perennials will be available to purchase. Flowers and grasses are selling for $6 per plant, and trees and shrubs are $17 each. Native plants are adapted to the area to withstand a variety of growing conditions once established and require minimal watering and need no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Native plants also attract important pollinators and supply habitat for such.

The Master Naturalists and the Illinois River Watershed Partnership are co-sponsoring a third native plant workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 12 at the Watershed Learning Center in Cave Springs. This workshop will focus on native plant propagation. Participants will learn about seed treatments of various types, such as stratification and scarification, cuttings, layering and other topics and methods in plant propagation. The cost of the workshop is $25, which includes lunch.

Iota Alpha

The Iota Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 9:30 a.m. May 9 at the home of Lila Smith. Members will be donating items to Saving Grace for the service project. The May social activity will be a cooking class/brunch at 10 a.m. May 11 at the home of Lisa Reeves.

Blood Cancers

This supportive and educational group is for adult patients, caregivers, families and friends coping with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS or other blood cancers. The group will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.
