Mountain biking event shifts gears, moves to Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- The state's largest mountain biking race is coming to the city.

Kessler Mountain Jam, formerly known as Slaughter Pen Jam, will be at the regional park Nov. 3-4. The mountain biking festival and race will move from Bentonville, where it has been held for the past nine years, according to a news release from Experience Fayetteville, the city's tourism bureau.

The single-track race is part of the Arkansas Mountain Bike Championship Series across the state. Fayetteville is a designated International Mountain Bicycling Association Ride Center.

Registration for the race is scheduled to open Aug. 1. Riders of all ages are encouraged to participate in the family friendly event, which will also feature live music and food, according to the release.
