Arkansas 53 shuts 4 days for project

Maintenance on a section of Arkansas 53 west of DeGray Lake in Clark County will require it to be closed and traffic detoured for four days beginning today, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews replacing cross drains will close Arkansas 53 at a point about 6 miles south of Arkansas 8 beginning at 8 a.m. today and lasting through 5 p.m Thursday, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling to Arkadelphia can use Arkansas 8 or Arkansas 26 to Arkansas 51, depending on their location, the department said. Traffic will be controlled with flagmen, signs and cones.
