Gun threats made against University of Arkansas fraternity house, man arrested

FAYETTEVILLE — Police arrested a 21-year-old Fort Worth man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after reports this morning of a man with a gun making threats at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house on Dickson Street.

University of Arkansas Capt. Gary Crain said in a text no one was injured.

Fayetteville police Sgt. Anthony Murphy said city police received a report at 1:54 a.m. of a man with a gun at 711 W. Dickson St.

City police arrested Ryan Grant Torres after finding him in a black Chevy Silverado in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express, 1251 N. Shiloh, about two miles from campus, according to a preliminary arrest report.

No assault or weapons charges were listed in a preliminary arrest report, which states city police were “dispatched to assist UAPD in finding an armed suspect who had threatened multiple individuals with a gun.”

Steve Voorhies, said the university had no record of a student named Ryan Grant Torres.
