LOWELL -- A woman was shot Tuesday and died from her injuries at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, according to Lowell police.

Lowell police were called about 5 p.m. to shots fired at North Bloomington Road and Fullerton Avenue. Police found the injured woman in a vehicle at a mobile home park, Lt. Paul Pillaro said.

Norma Salinas, 27, was taken to the hospital and later died, Pillaro said. Her name was released after police notified her next of kin.

Jose Alindo Torres, 27, was arrested Tuesday by Sheriff's Office deputies near Avoca, according to Pillaro.

Pillaro described the shooting as a domestic-related crime. Pillaro said police believe the two were in an altercation when the shooting occurred.

The two were visiting someone at one of the mobile homes, Pillaro said. He didn't know where Salinas or Torres lived.

Pillaro said detectives were investigating the case and have witnesses to interview.

Salinas was in a white vehicle when she was shot, Pillaro said. There was damage to the passenger's window. Pillaro said a gunshot caused the damage.

Police had the vehicle towed from the park.

Pillaro said police were able to get information about the vehicle the Torres was driving, leading Benton County Sheriff's Office deputies finding him.

No one else was injured in the shooting, Pillaro said
