Man faces charge

in gunfire near club

Police have arrested a 26-year-old in a shooting last month outside a downtown Little Rock club that left another man critically hurt.

Elrin Romeal Williams of Little Rock was taken into custody Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault, according to the Police Department.

The Aug. 26 shooting in a parking lot near Club Level, 315 Main St., left 29-year-old Ramone Nunez of Little Rock with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said one vehicle hit another as two drivers left the club around 2 a.m., causing an argument that resulted in gunfire.

Williams was questioned in the shooting after officers found a black Lexus with a flat tire in a parking lot near 10th and Main streets. He was released at the time without charges.

Records show Williams was booked into the Pulaski County jail around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. He remained there Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Asking directions,

driver is carjacked

A driver was robbed at gunpoint of his wallet, cellphone and SUV early Wednesday after stopping in Little Rock to ask for directions, according to a police report.

The victim, a 34-year-old Conway man, told investigators he was driving along Pine Cone Drive in south Little Rock and looking for a house on Arapaho Trail. He pulled over around 12:45 a.m. to ask a man standing at Pine Cone Drive and Hilaro Springs Road for directions, the report said.

The person walked around to the driver's side of the vehicle, where he pulled out a black revolver and told the victim to "give him everything he has," according to the report.

The robber reportedly took the victim's wallet and cellphone and then got into his 2013 Nissan Pathfinder with two other people. The group drove off in the stolen vehicle south on Hilaro Springs Road, leaving the victim at the corner.

The 34-year-old called the police on his smartwatch.

The total value of the stolen items was reported as $15,750.

No suspects were named on the report. The gunman was described as black and had black hair and brown eyes.

Burglars in LR hit

Indian restaurants

Police are investigating a pair of break-ins this week at Indian restaurants in west Little Rock.

In each burglary, the intruder or intruders broke into the business and made off with the cash register, Little Rock Police Department reports show.

Officers went Tuesday morning to Taj Mahal at 1510 Market St. after a worker discovered a door had been broken and an interior office "rummaged through," according to a report in that case. A register containing some cash was taken.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a burglary at Star of India at 301 N. Shackleford Road and found a front door shattered.

A screenshot from surveillance footage showed two people -- male and female -- inside the business, the report said, noting the intruders made off with the register.

A police spokesman said investigators believe the two burglaries are related.

No suspects were named on either report.

LR man arrested

in school break-in

A man was arrested in a break-in at a Little Rock school after running back inside the building to evade police, authorities said.

Officers responded around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday to a burglar alarm at Cloverdale Magnet Middle School, 6300 Hinkson Road, a Police Department report said.

Officers reportedly found two people exiting the building on its northeast side and ordered them to stop.

One burglar ran back inside the building, the report states. Police said Xavier Canady, 21, of Little Rock was arrested after he later walked out on the school's west side.

The other burglar ran north toward Spring Valley apartments at 8701 Interstate 30 and had not been found at the time of the report.

Listed as stolen from the middle school was a dark-colored backpack valued at $50. According to an arrest report, Canady told authorities his accomplice took the item.

Officers noted there were no signs of forced entry at the school.

Canady remained at the Pulaski County jail Wednesday with no bail set.
