Wildwood exhibition

An artists' reception, 6-8 p.m. today opens an exhibition of 66 2-D and 3-D works by 25 current and former University of Arkansas at Little Rock art students and faculty members, on display through Oct. 29 in the Galleries at Wildwood, Lucy Lockett Cabe Festival Theatre, Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock. UALR music students Hannah Blacklaw, JaColby Crossley, Kira Hatley and Samuel Schalchin will perform. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Light on Literacy

Literacy Action of Central Arkansas will hold its ninth annual Shine a Light on Literacy!, 6-8 p.m. Friday at Next Level Events, Union Train Station, 1400 W. Markham St., Little Rock. The fundraiser will feature libations, heavy hors d'oeuvres, music, a wine pull and the auction of an author-signed book. Art of Fashion

Chanel Retail Manager Ken Lucero will deliver a lecture titled "Fragrance and Beauty," about the history and heritage of the iconic Chanel brand, and the latest fragrance and beauty products, 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lower Lobby Lecture Hall at the Arkansas Arts Center in MacArthur Park, East Ninth and Commerce streets. The lecture is part of the Arts Center's Art of Fashion lecture series. A brunch reception, with mimosas and brunch bites, at which attendees can get a look at an exclusive, temporary display of vintage Chanel "looks," handbags and accessories, will precede the lecture at 10:30. The lecture is in collaboration with Dillard's Park Plaza, which will host a post-lecture Chanel Pop-Up Shop in the Arts Center Atrium until 2 p.m., featuring Chanel products; 10 percent of the proceeds will benefit Arts Center programs. The Arts Center's Canvas restaurant will also serve specials inspired by French cuisine until 2.

The lecture series will also include a talk by fashion historian Raissa Bretana titled "Fashion and the Myth of Mid-Century Modernism: 1947 to 1957," 6 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Lecture Hall. A wine reception will precede the lecture at 5:30; the Arts Center will keep its galleries and restaurant open until 9 p.m. Seating is limited; tickets are required. Admission is $10, free for Arts Center members.

Barefoot Movement

Nashville, Tenn.-based bluegrass band Barefoot Movement -- singer-songwriter and fiddler Noah Wall; Tommy Norris, mandolin; Alex Conerly, guitarist and singer; and Katie Blomarz, bass -- performs 2-3 p.m. in the Craft Village and 7:30 p.m. in the Music Auditorium on Saturday at Ozark Folk Center State Park, 1302 Park St., Mountain View.
