$350,000 bail is set for Arkansas murder suspect

A Pope County district judge set bail at $350,000 Monday for an Atkins man held on a first-degree murder charge, Pope County prosecutor David Gibbons said.

Daniel Joseph Hoffman, 29, appeared in Judge Don Bourne's court Monday morning for a probable cause hearing after his arrest in the killing of Jeremiah Murray, who disappeared earlier this month.

Hoffman's plea and arraignment will be Nov. 6.

Because probable cause was given orally at the hearing, no affidavit detailing the Pope County sheriff's office reason for arresting Hoffman is ready yet, Gibbons said.

Police arrested Hoffman on Wednesday on drug and driving offenses, failure to pay child support and contempt of court.

On Saturday, while Hoffman remained in jail, police interviewed him and arrested him in the death of Murray after recovering Murray's remains.
