AMPLE SAMPLES

Attendees, chefs mix, mingle at 'tasty' gourmet fundraiser

PINE BLUFF -- Area chefs showed off a few of their best dishes Sept. 15 at the fifth annual Taste of Southeast Arkansas, held at Pine Bluff Country Club.

Tables of gourmet food lined the ballroom, allowing guests to stop and chat with chefs and sample their offerings. Whether guests' tastes ran to sliders, sweets or seafood, there was a little something for everyone. The menu included turkey sliders on sweet potato-Parmesan rolls, St. Louis-style ribs, southern caramel cake, crab poppers fried in funnel cake batter and spiced apple eclairs.

The event was a fundraiser for the Jefferson County Young Professionals Network, a program of the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce. Organizers were hoping to clear $10,000 to be used by the group for community service projects.

New this year was a live auction sponsored by Sissy's Log Cabin featuring several pieces of Lagos jewelry. Other event sponsors were Simmons Bank, Relyance Bank, Jefferson Regional Medical Center, MK Distributors and Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel.
