The Donald W. Reynolds Peace at Home Family Shelter welcomed guests Sept. 6 for a reception to mark the completion and opening of a second-floor addition. The expansion allowed the shelter to add 16 beds for survivors of domestic violence.

Teresa Mills, executive director, told those gathered the shelter has been at or over capacity for four years. Increasing the number of beds will mean 6,000 nights of shelter annually. The expansion also includes 3,200 square feet of living space, with four large family rooms, a second laundry room and two sitting areas. This expansion takes Peace at Home Family Shelter from a 31-bed facility to a 50-bed facility.
