PUTTING ON THEIR GAME FACES

Networking huddle

Mixing business with tailgating, chamber of commerce party salutes Hogs

On Aug. 30, members of Little Rock's business community got a one-day jump on local Hogs-game tailgating. But they didn't have to load, transport or fire up their own grills for this particular incarnation of the traditional football ritual.

RazorRock Tailgate: A Business After Hours Event was presented by the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and Bale Chevrolet at the dealership's west Little Rock showroom. Members paid $5 in advance or $10 at the door; all nonmembers paid $15.

With a backdrop of Razorback red, guests enjoyed various libations along with generous and tasty samples -- nachos, burgers, chicken sandwiches, cookies, chips, dip and other delicacies -- provided by David's Burgers, Gina's Catering, Moe's Southwest Grill and Zoe's Kitchen.

The event also provided an opportunity to network while taking fun photos with props at a booth by Central Arkansas Entertainment and playing games provided by Baggo. Adding to the atmosphere was a group of costumed promoters of CosplayCon & Anime Experience, an event planned for Nov. 18 at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock.

Graham Cobb, chief operating officer for the chamber, and Hunter Bale of the dealership gave away prizes during frequent drawings. Guests were registered through the chamber's "network bingo" game, designed to help them get to know one another.

Proceeds from the event's walk-up ticket sales were donated to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts through the American Red Cross.
