Bella Vista man accused of sexually assaulting woman on Bentonville trail

BENTONVILLE -- A Bella Vista man was arrested in connection with sexually assaulting a woman who was walking on a trail.

Brian Lee Snyder, 33, was being held in the Benton County Jail with no bond set Thursday. Snyder was arrested in connection with second-degree sexual assault. Snyder was arrested Tuesday and booked into the jail at 6:50 p.m.

A woman was walking on the trail Tuesday near the wastewater plant on Northeast A Street when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks, according to a Bentonville Police Department news release.

The man, later identified as Snyder, ran to a four-door white sedan parked nearby and fled the area, according to the release.

The woman was able to get the license plate number as the vehicle drove away, according to the release.

Police were then able to identify Snyder, according to the release.

Prosecutors haven't filed formal charges against Snyder.

Snyder's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Oct. 16 in Benton County Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
