BENTONVILLE -- A Bella Vista man was arrested in connection with sexually assaulting a woman who was walking on a trail.

Brian Lee Snyder, 33, was being held in the Benton County Jail with no bond set Thursday. Snyder was arrested in connection with second-degree sexual assault.

A woman was walking on the trail Tuesday near the wastewater plant on Northeast A Street when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks, according to a Bentonville Police Department news release.

The man, later identified as Snyder, ran to a four-door with sedan that was parked nearby and fled the area, according to the release.

The woman was able to get the sedan's license plate number as the car drove away, according to the release.

Police were then able to identify Snyder, according to the release.

Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Snyder.
