Police say auto-shop money taken to buy prosthetic leg

An auto-repair shop worker is accused of stealing money to buy a prosthetic leg, police said.

According to a report from the Jonesboro Police Department, officers found Cody Moss, 27, at a Sears Auto Center on South Caraway Road on Wednesday.

Another employee there told police that Moss had transferred more than $1,800 in voided transactions into his personal bank account, the report said.

Police said Moss admitted to the theft, telling them he took the money to purchase a prosthetic leg. He also apologized for the crime in a written statement, police said.

The Jonesboro resident was charged with theft and taken to the Craighead County jail. On Thursday, he was released on $1,500 bond.

His next court appearance is set for Dec. 27.
