BENTON COUNTY

A Reformation Organ Crawl in Rogers is planned by the Northwest Arkansas chapter of the American Guild of Organists, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11. "Music and the Reformation" will start at Peace Lutheran Church, 805 W. Olrich St.; travel next to First Presbyterian Church, 1901 W. 26th St.; and finish at Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Road. The event features three different organs and 500 years of music.

A Grace Bible Conference, "Distinctions of Grace," is set for Friday and Saturday at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 2100 U.S. 412 West in Siloam Springs. Sessions begin at 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, with Riky Kurth speaking on "A Distinctive Way to Get Life." Kurth is pastor of Faith Bible Church in Steger, Ill., and editor for the Berean Bible Study in Germantown, Wisc.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hudson Road, celebrates the oneness of the congregation with one worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The youth of the church serve an Oktoberfest lunch after the service.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 902 S.W. Second St., Bentonville, serves a potluck meal after the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. The church plans a Thanksgiving food drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Centerton.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors the Church Women United in celebrating World Community Day at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. The focus of the gathering is peace.

The church gathers canned goods and staple food items for Helping Hands to deliver at Thanksgiving. The church also collects sweaters and sweatshirts of all sizes, given to men, women and children through the Salvation Army.

St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, 1 St. Bernard Lane, offers GriefShare, a 13-week program of videos, group discussion and personal study, meeting from 1 to 3 p.m. each Wednesday, starting this week. First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., celebrates the anniversary with a free Reformation hymn festival at 4 p.m. Sunday, featuring a 55-member choir from various Presbyterian churches in the area, a 14-piece brass ensemble, the church hand bell choir and the bagpipe band from Lyon College in Batesville.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., celebrates the anniversary of the Reformation with one service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. An Oktoberfest luncheon will be served in the fellowship hall after the service.

The church sponsors Trunk or Treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, with games, inflatable bounce houses, horseback rides and more.

The church offers a contemporary service with a light supper, called the "Saturday Ignite," at 5 p.m. Saturday, beginning Nov. 4. The church offers a special service Nov. 7 for those unable to attend a regular service, followed by a a lunch. Transportation available.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 4. The church sponsors Trunk or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, featuring a maze of themed trunks.

The church sponsors its annual Christmas tea on Dec. 2, with seatings at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets sales for the tea begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Tickets are $10.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, sponsors Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the church parking lot.

The church plans a chili cook off at 5 p.m. Nov. 12. The church will serve a Thanksgiving Day dinner at noon Nov. 23, with reservations requested in the church office.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

The University of Arkansas presents "Nailing Down the Protestant Reformation: A Symposium on the Martin Luther Quincentennial" on Nov. 9-10 in Gearhart Hall. The conference opens with a keynote lecture at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 and continues with sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Nov. 10. Topics include print and oral culture, the English Bible, visual arts, women and sexuality and long-term effects of the Reformation.

UA Schola Cantorum performs at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in Gearhart, and related materials from the UA Special Collections department will be on display in Mullins Library.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road, commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and the 50th anniversary of the church with several events.

"Brewtheran," a Lutheran beer fellowship, hosts "Brewtheran Reformation 2017," from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today. The Oktoberfest-theme event includes home brews, bratwurst, pretzel bar, drink "koozies" and live music. Registration requested.

Good Shepherd will observe both anniversaries with worship services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday. Bob Mueller, a professor of music at the University of Arkansas and music director of the church, leads a concert and organ recital, "Preludes and Hymns of the Reformation," at 3 p.m.

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Drive, presents a murder mystery and Thanksgiving dinner, "Murder on Holiday Island," at 5 p.m. Nov. 10. Tickets are $12, and a limited number are available. The event is held in support of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Ministry. Church members will take collections from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2-16 at Sunfest Market in Holiday Island.
