Oberst to play Rev Room; show is tribute to '27 Club'

Singer-songwriter Conor Oberst will perform at 8:30 p.m. today at the Rev Room in Little Rock. Admission is $25 ($1 from each ticket will go to Planned Parenthood).

Oberst, 37, a native of Omaha, Neb., is known for his work in the band Bright Eyes, which was active from 1995 to 2011. His other band projects have included Commander Venus, Desaparacidos, Park Ave. and Monsters of Folk (whose other members were M. Ward, Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Mike Mogis, who was also a member of Bright Eyes).

Oberst has released 11 solo albums, the most recent three of which have come out on the prestigious Nonesuch Records: Upside Down Mountain in 2014, Ruminations in 2016 and Salutations in March.

Wick-It the Instigator will perform at 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is $15.

The Forever 27 Club Show will celebrate the music of Robert Johnson, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse -- who all died at age 27 -- at 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 the day of the show.

Opening the show will be a tribute to the late David Bowie (who did not die at age 27, but died two days after his 69th birthday).
