UCA rises to No. 4 in poll

The University of Central Arkansas continued its climb in the polls Monday when the Bears ascended to No. 4 in the FCS Coaches Poll after their 45-17 victory at Northwestern (La.) State on Saturday.

UCA (6-1, 5-0 Southland Conference) previously was ranked No. 6 in the poll.

The ranking is the program's highest since joining the Football Championship Subdivision in 2006.

The Bears have won six consecutive games and will host McNeese State (6-1, 4-1) Saturday at 6 p.m.

ASU players earn weekly honor

Arkansas State University redshirt junior quarterback Justice Hansen and senior defensive end Ja'Von Rolland-Jones were named the Sun Belt Conference's Co-Offensive and Co-Defensive Players of the Week on Monday.

It was the first time an ASU player has earned the weekly honor this season.

Hansen recorded 396 total yards of offense, rushing for a career-high 121 yards, and had 3 touchdowns (2 passing, 1 rushing) in ASU's 47-3 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday.

Rolland-Jones recorded a season-high 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, 5 tackles and a forced fumble that was returned for a touchdown. He now has 36 career sacks, which ties him for the fourth most in NCAA history.

The honors were shared with Appalachian State quarterback Taylor Lamb (427 yards, 2 touchdowns passing) and South Alabama defensive back Jeremy Reaves (1 interception, 1 fumble recovery).

Decatur forfeits game vs. Danville

Decatur has forfeited its 4-2A Conference game Friday against Danville because of injuries.

The Arkansas Activities Association announced the forfeit Monday.

With the forfeit, Danville (8-1, 7-0) will receive a 2-0 victory and 13 tiebreaker points.

Danville will be the No. 1 seed from the 4-2A, but with a Week 10 open date, the Little Johns won't play again until Nov. 10 in the Class 2A playoffs.

Decatur (0-8, 0-6) is scheduled to play at Lavaca on Nov. 3.

Arkansas men second in Dallas

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville men's golf team is in second place after 36 holes Monday at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas. The Razorbacks shot a 9-under 559, 13 shots behind tournament host Baylor's 22-under 546.

Arkansas women lead Kauth Invitational

The top-ranked Arkansas women's team continued its reign at the top of the leaderboard after the second round at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio on Monday. The Razorbacks fired a 15-under 273 and lead the field by 18 strokes with one round remaining at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course.

Harding women top field in Hot Springs

Harding University leads the Henderson State Fall Invitational by four strokes after Monday's second round in Hot Springs.

Harding shot 634 for the two rounds. Host Henderson State University is second at 638, followed by Texas-Tyler at 641. Southern Arkansas University and the University of Arkansas-Monticello are tied for fourth at 657.

Ramos paces UALR men to first

Behind Aaron Ramos' 6-under 138, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock men's team holds the lead after 36 holes of the Little Rock Invitational at Chenal Country Club. The Trojans shot a 5-over, 581.

Illinois State is second at 582, and the University of Texas-Arlington and Arkansas State are tied for third at 589.

Harding's Banger maintains lead

Harding senior Mason Banger has a four-stroke lead after two rounds of the MSSU Men's Fall Invitational in Monkey Island, Okla. Banger is at 5-under 139 with 18 holes to play. Nick Pierce of Central Oklahoma is second at 1-under 143.

As a team, Harding is in third behind Central Oklahoma and Missouri-St. Louis.

VOLLEYBALL

Arkansas Tech rolls to 27-0 to set record

No. 12 Arkansas Tech set a program record for consecutive victories Monday as the Golden Suns defeated Central Baptist 25-16, 25-6, 25-7.

Ellie Perkins led all players with eight kills as Arkansas Tech improved to 27-0 overall and 11-0 in the GAC.
