NLR man, 66, held in child-sex case

A 66-year-old man faces a rape charge after an officer discovered a small girl performing a sexual act on him inside a vehicle at a North Little Rock parking lot, authorities said.

Sam Holder of North Little Rock was arrested around 9 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of River Road, which is in the vicinity of Riverview Park, according to a report.

An officer patrolling the area noticed a dark-colored van in a parking lot with its windows "slightly fogged," authorities noted.

The officer shined a flashlight into the van and saw a small girl performing a sexual act on Holder, police said. That prompted Holder to "hurry and pull his pants above his waist," the report states.

The girl described Holder as a "family friend" who was "similar to a grandpa."

Holder remained at the Pulaski County jail as of Monday morning without bail, according to an online inmate roster.

TV-for-sale post was robbery setup

A 24-year-old Jacksonville man was robbed at gunpoint in North Little Rock after he went to a home where he had arranged to buy a TV he saw on Facebook, authorities said.

The victim said he went to an address in the 700 block of West 23rd Street on Friday evening to buy a 70-inch television he had seen listed on Facebook Marketplace, according to a North Little Rock Police Department report.

A woman claiming to be the seller's sister met the victim at the door, took the $300 he had agreed to pay for the TV and directed him inside, the report stated. Police said a man who appeared to be the same one who was selling the TV on Facebook pulled a gun on him in the residence and demanded his possessions.

The assailant reportedly ran from the home after getting the man's wallet. Police searched the area, but they hadn't made an arrest at the time of the report.

Gun held to neck of Sonic manager

A man who wielded a gun with a sock on it held up a Sonic restaurant in Little Rock on Sunday, escaping with bank deposits from the safe, police said.

It happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the chain's outlet at 10500 Stagecoach Road, which is near Otter Creek Road, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The manager told investigators that the robber pressed a gun to her neck and then followed her as she crawled through the business to the safe, the report said. The safe was open, and the man took several bank deposits, police wrote.

Witnesses said they saw the man come out of nearby woods and then flee back into them afterward.

The report didn't give the race or estimated age of the robber, but it said he stood about 5-foot-11, weighed around 130 pounds and wore all black except for red socks. He also reportedly wore white gloves and a blue bandanna over his face.

Barely clad woman held in break-in

A 26-year-old woman is accused of breaking the window of a restaurant in Little Rock's Hillcrest neighborhood and attempting to steal merchandise from a grocery store while intoxicated, police said.

Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Ciao Baci at 605 Beechwood St. about 6 a.m. Saturday, and found that the back window had been broken, according to a police report.

While they were there, an employee from the nearby Kroger reportedly came over and told police there was a "half naked" woman in the grocery store trying to steal merchandise.

Police found Philadelphia Katherine Shields with a bandage on one of her hands and black potting soil on her right cheek and left foot, the report states.

An officer wrote that Shields was holding a flashlight and wearing a pair of blue men's underwear, one flip-flop and a long gray sweater that was open and exposed her chest. She reportedly told officers that she was waiting for a friend who would pick her up and pay for the bandage.

Shields appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, with "slurred speech" and a "sleepy appearance," police wrote. When asked why she had black dirt on her face, she told authorities it was a fetish she shared with her boyfriend and that they "throw dirt on each other and film it," according to the report.

Another employee told officers that Shields had popped up from behind a dumpster and startled workers who were unloading a truck behind the store.

She had gone inside, grabbed receipts from the front of the store and put them to her chest, the worker told police.

The report states that when an employee told her to stop, she walked to the first-aid aisle and grabbed a bandage. She reportedly opened the package and tried to put it on her left foot, which was swollen.

Police said surveillance footage from Ciao Baci shows Shields shining a flashlight inside the back window, then grabbing a flower pot from behind the business and using it to break the glass.

As of Monday morning, Shields was being held without bail at the Pulaski County jail on charges that include commercial burglary, property theft, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, records show.
