VIPs gather ahead of 33rd Opus Ball

Supporters of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra celebrated Opus XXXIII, the forthcoming 33rd annual Opus Ball, a few weeks early via a Patrons' Party, held Oct. 12 on the mezzanine of the Capital Hotel in Little Rock.

Christina Littlejohn, chief executive officer of the orchestra, and ball co-chairmen Susan and Herren Hickingbotham greeted attendees, who took advantage of a full bar and a buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres that included such delicacies as beef brisket, sushi, and shrimp and grits. Guests briefly gathered to hear Hickingbotham thank friends, patrons, and sponsors that include Simmons Bank, Lisenne Rockefeller, Natalie and Win Rockefeller, the Doubletree Hotel, Linda and Rush Harding, Sissy's Log Cabin, Jerry Barakat and Glazer's.

Formerly held at the Capital Hotel, the ball -- a fundraiser for music education efforts for Arkansas children -- this year will take place Nov. 11 at the Robinson Center and Doubletree Hotel. The event will feature an extended cocktail hour; silent auction using online bidding; music by Arkansas Symphony Youth Orchestra musicians; a four-course dinner by Central Arkansas chefs Payne Harding, Tim Morton, Evette Brady and Denis Seyer; and dancing to the tunes of the Rodney Block Collective.
