UALR gets grant for corridor study

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received a grant to work with Louisiana Tech University to analyze developable land in an Arkansas-Louisiana "economic corridor" close to major highways, river ports and rail lines, and to develop a disaster-preparedness and recovery strategy for the region in case of flooding and tornadoes.

UALR's Arkansas Economic Development Institute received a $320,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The region is made up of Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha, and Drew counties in Arkansas and East Carroll, Madison, Morehouse, Richland, and West Carroll parishes in Louisiana.
