Springdale, Lowell I-49 lanes to close

Ramp construction for the new U.S. 412 northern bypass will require overnight lane closings on a section of Interstate 49 beginning Monday and lasting through Oct. 31, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews removing bridge safety platforms will require the inside and outside lanes of I-49 in both directions to be alternately closed between Wagon Wheel Road in Springdale and Arkansas 264 in Lowell from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily, weather permitting.

One lane direction will be closed at a time and, if required, workers will close all lanes for 15-minute intervals, the department said.

The work is part of a $100.6 million project to build a 4-mile bypass between I-49 and Arkansas 112.
