Game 5 starter CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees have had a little bit of social media fun at the Cleveland Indians’ expense after Wednesday’s series-clinching 5-2 victory.

To the victor goes the spoils, as the old saying goes, but it shouldn't come at the expense of the loser.

That's exactly what happened on social media Wednesday night after the New York Yankees came back from a two-game deficit to beat the Cleveland Indians in the American League division series. Wednesday's 5-2 loss ended Cleveland's season and the Yankees took to social media to make the three consecutive losses hurt even more.

"Final: Yankees 5, The Team that Blew A 2-0 Series Lead 2," was posted on the Yankees' Instagram account after the victory along with a photo of Game 5 starter CC Sabathia.

If that wasn't enough, the Yankees then took to Twitter to drag the Indians, in particular Jose Ramirez, through the mud some more.

Before the ALDS started, Ramirez tweeted, "We're 3-0 at Yankees Stadium this year cupcake." After the Game 5 victory, the Yankees responded with, "We like cupcakes. And champagne."

For their part, the Indians have not responded on either platform. Their last social media post was on Twitter thanking fans for a "memorable season."

The Yankees responded to that tweet early Thursday with a clip of Sabathia saluting along with a caption.

"In all seriousness, congrats to you guys on an amazing season," the team posted. "It was a hard fought battle until the end! Until we meet again..."

In another tweet, the Yankees gave more love to the Indians.

"Social media jabs are fun, but mad respect to the @Indians on a historic season and a great series," the team posted.

According to a story from the New York Post, the Indians started the war of words earlier in the series.

After Jay Bruce hit a home run in Game 1 to put the Indians ahead 3-0, the team tweeted, "Bruce is on our team because our owner wrote a check that competitors for Jay wouldn't."

The post referenced the Yankees' failed attempt to trade with the New York Mets to acquire Bruce earlier in the season.

The Yankees, though, got the last laugh.

The list of starting quarterbacks for the Cleveland Browns since the franchise rebooted in 1999 continues to grow.

Browns Coach Hue Jackson announced Wednesday that Kevin Hogan will be the team's starter for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Hogan, who will make his first career start, replaces rookie DeShone Kizer, who was benched at halftime of last week's 17-14 loss to the New York Jets.

Hogan now gets his chance as the 28th quarterback to start for the Browns since 1999. He spent the offseason as the fourth quarterback in a three-player competition for the starting job. He did not play in the first preseason game, but eventually earned the backup role ahead of Brock Osweiler (released) and Cody Kessler (No. 3).

Jackson had gone to Kizer as his starter when the season began, saying he would stick with the rookie through all the growing pains. However, he's changed that position.

"I'll say it again: DeShone Kizer has a huge future here with the Cleveland Browns," Jackson said. "He needs to continue to grow, continue to get better, and he will. There's no question in my mind that he will. But right now I think this is what's best for our football team and this is the decision that I've made."
