Lane shifts needed for U.S. 412 work

Work connected to the $100.6 million project to build the U.S. 412 northern bypass will require lane closings beginning today and lasting through Oct. 31, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews doing pavement striping and guardrail work will require alternate closings of the northbound and southbound lanes between Carrie Smith and West Miller roads from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled using flaggers, traffic barrels and warning signs, the department said. Two lanes of traffic will be restored by 4 p.m. each day.

The work is part of the project to build a 4-mile, four-lane bypass between Interstate 49 and Arkansas 112 to provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale metropolitan area. It is expected to be completed in mid-2018.
