State police reports two road fatalities

A 78-year-old man died when his vehicle crashed into a fence Monday, according to the Arkansas State Police, who also identified a North Little Rock man killed in a crash earlier this month.

Williams Owens of Waldron was driving west on Arkansas 80 in Scott County, east of Waldron, on Monday when his 1998 Toyota traveled off the road and into a fence around 8:30 a.m., the state police said in a preliminary report.

The report did not indicate what caused him to leave the road.

The state police reported Tuesday that a 27-year-old North Little Rock man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Oct. 2.

That wreck occurred shortly after 6 p.m. as Elijah Howard was driving a 2016 Toyota north on U.S. 62/65 in Boone County, authorities said.

Howard's vehicle reportedly crossed a turning lane and struck a southbound 1998 Kenworth truck.

Howard suffered fatal injuries, the report states. A passenger in the truck, a boy, was listed as being hurt and taken to a hospital, but the report did not identify him or detail the extent of his injuries.

The weather was clear and and roads were dry at the time of both crashes, state police said.
