Stray bullet leaves LR woman injured

A 49-year-old woman was taken to a hospital Wednesday night after a bullet hit her thigh but didn't break the skin, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. Investigators suspect the weapon may have fired when it was dropped nearby.

The victim, Donna Wilson, told police she had just gotten to her home on 51st Street and was unlocking the door shortly after 7:15 p.m. when she heard one shot and "felt her leg burning."

She was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center.

Police believe the bullet came from Mabelvale Pike. Officers interviewed a clerk at a convenience store on that street, who said he had heard one shot from the parking lot. He said he then went outside and talked to a man in a white Chevrolet Tahoe, who said he "dropped his gun and it went off."

The man in the Tahoe was no longer at the scene, the report said. Police reviewed the store's security footage but did not see the vehicle. Officers reportedly found one projectile at the scene.

Police have named no suspects, and no arrests had been made.

Robbed of $1,200, woman tells police

A 52-year-old Alexander woman told investigators a gunman approached her car and robbed her of cash she had just withdrawn from a Little Rock bank.

The woman said it happened about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on Mabelvale Plaza Drive, which runs south of Interstate 30 in southwest Little Rock.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, the woman saw a gray Chevrolet Impala pull up behind her and thought it was her husband, who works for a car dealership and often drives different vehicles.

The woman stopped her car, and a gunman approached from the Impala. The robber demanded the woman's money, taking $1,200 before returning to his car and fleeing west from the area, the report said.

The victim told investigators she had withdrawn the money a short time earlier and believes the robber may have followed her from the bank, police noted.

Officers searched the area but didn't make an arrest.

The robber is described as a clean-shaven black male who stood 6 feet tall, weighed 180 pounds and had a short black afro, a light build and brown eyes.
