4 days of accidents wind up in 5 deaths

At least five people died, including three Texans, on Arkansas roads over the weekend.

A 22-year-old man died after the vehicle he was driving overturned on an Arkansas road Monday morning, Arkansas State Police said.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 7 a.m. as Adam Criswell of Lonoke was heading west on Sandhill Road in Lonoke County, according to a report.

Criswell lost control of the 1999 Mazda as it veered off the road's south side, causing it to travel off the north side and overturn.

Police say Criswell, who was ejected, suffered fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described by police as clear and dry.

A man and a woman from Texas were killed early Saturday after a truck hit their vehicle on Interstate 30 in Clark County, authorities said.

State police said Morgan Lawrence, 53, of Flint, Texas, was driving a 2015 Volkswagen east on the highway around 12:15 a.m. when the vehicle collided with an eastbound 2009 Freightliner truck. It happened near the 61 mile marker, which is about 12 miles south of Arkadelphia.

According to a report, the Volkswagen and the truck both veered off the interstate after impact. Lawrence and a passenger in his vehicle -- Gean Lawrence, also of Flint -- suffered fatal injuries.

The truck driver, identified as 42-year-old Raad Hamdeh Abu of Chicago Ridge, Ill., was listed as hurt, though the report didn't detail the extent of his injuries. Authorities said conditions at the time were clear and dry.

A 27-year-old man died after his motorcycle flipped onto its side and slid into a tree Friday night in Russellville, according to a state police report.

Robby Brooks was riding a 2015 Honda CBR 650 west on Sparksford Drive when he lost control along a curve at East Gum Street, police said. It happened around 9:20 p.m.

Police said the motorcycle slid on its side before striking a tree.

Brooks, who is from Russellville, was taken to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead.

Conditions at the time of the crash were reported by police as clear and dry.

A 49-year-old Texas man was killed and two men from Arkansas were injured when three motorcycles crashed Saturday night on a state highway, authorities said.

It happened shortly after 9 p.m. on Arkansas 141 in Craighead County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Investigators say a 2002 Harley Davidson driven by 51-year-old Tony Cotton of Marion struck an animal, and then two other Harley Davidson motorcycles hit Cotton's vehicle.

One of those, a 2013 model driven by 49-year-old John Ishmael of Joshua, Texas, crashed into a sign and a tree, police said. Ishmael died at the scene.

Cotton and the third motorcycle rider, 68-year-old David Ishmael of Jonesboro, suffered unspecified injuries.

Conditions at the time were clear and dry, authorities said.
