North Little Rock DWI suspect faces at least 3 charges

A North Little Rock man was charged with drunk driving Saturday after he fled from police in his vehicle, then tried to escape a police car, according to a police report.

North Little Rock police were called to a disturbance at 201 E. I Ave. sometime before 12:15 p.m. Saturday. The nature of the disturbance wasn't stated in the report.

The person who called police pointed out the vehicle of 35-year-old Christopher Reeves, who was stopped at the intersection of I and Idlewild avenues, the report said.

Reeves reportedly sped away on Idlewild Avenue, and police followed him. He reached speeds between 60 and 70 mph and almost hit parked cars, the report said.

Reeves was stopped in the 3800 block of Cedar Street. Police said he smelled of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test.

Reeves was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to arrest and reckless driving, all misdemeanors.
