Ozark Regional Transit to offer free bus fares on fixed routes

FAYETTEVILLE -- Ozark Regional Transit will provide free bus fares on fixed routes Monday through Wednesday and again Friday.

Ozark Regional Transit has offered free fares during the holidays for more than a decade and wants to show appreciation for serving Northwest Arkansas, according to a news release.

The regional public transportation service will be closed Thursday.

On Friday only, some routes will be combined, shortened or not run. All combined routes will run reduced schedules, according to release.

Fayetteville routes No. 1 and No. 2 will run as one service. Other combined routes are: No. 4 in Fayetteville with No. 61 in Springdale and No. 11 and No. 51 in Bentonville and Rogers.

Route 52 in Rogers and Routes No. 63 and No. 64 will be on demand only, and the Express Route, No. 490, will run a shortened route with one bus from Northwest Arkansas Community College to the University of Arkansas' Archeological Survey Building at 2471 N. Hatch Ave.

The bus service to Wal-Mart on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be canceled because of the Razorback football game.
