OSTOMATES

The Northwest Arkansas Ostomy Education and Support group will meet at 2 p.m. today at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. There will be an educational meeting at 1 p.m. This month there will be a question-and-answer session.

CANCER SUPPORT

Viviendo con Cancer (Living with Cancer) is a supportive and educational group for adult Hispanic patients, caregivers, families and friends coping with any type of cancer. All group communication will be in Spanish. This group meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hope Cancer Resources.

HILL ‘N DALE

Hill ‘N Dale Hiking Club of Bella Vista will hike in Hobbs State Park Monday. Three trails will be available: Dutton Hollow Loop (moderate four miles), Sinking Stream Trail (easy, half mile) and Shaddox Hollow (easy to moderate, 1.5 mile loop). Carpool departure will be at 8 a.m. from Harps in Bella Vista or meet at 8:50 a.m. at the Hobbs Visitor Center. Bring a sack lunch. Nonmembers are welcome.

DEMOCRATS

The Northwest Arkansas Senior Democrats will meet at noon Tuesday at the Western Sizzlin Restaurant in Springdale. Party chairman Michael John Gray will talk about recent candidate filings and the upcoming 2018 election cycle. Georgia Ross, president, urges all democrats in Madison, Benton, Carroll and Washington counties to attend.

REPUBLICANS

The Washington County Republican Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Willie James Event Place, 1161 W. Henri De Tonti Blvd. in Springdale, just west of the Sonic in Tontitown. The speaker will be Jan Morgan from Hot Springs. Morgan is a Second Amendment advocate and Fox News contributor and has recently formed an exploratory committee to consider a run for governor of Arkansas. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m.

BC DEMS

The BC Dems will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Nov. 27 at Golden Corral, 2605 W. Pleasant Crossing in Rogers. A meeting will begin at noon with featured speaker Aaron Cash, an attorney with The Legal Center of NWA. He will speak about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals laws and recent changes directed by the current administration and other immigration subjects.

PASTEL SOCIETY

The last meeting of the year for the Ozark Pastel Society will be from 9 a.m.to noon Dec. 2 at John Brown University in Siloam Springs. There will be a special demonstration by Carol Klein of Tulsa. The club will also vote on a slate of officers and install them. Volunteers are still needed to fill the president and secretary positions for 2018.

The society welcomes new members of all ages and levels of painting experience.

BETA SIGMA PHI

The Iota Alpha Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, will meet Nov. 28 at the Wooden Spoon for lunch and shopping in Gentry. The next month’s meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 13 at the home of Shirley Sheets with a Christmas gift exchange.

WOMEN’S CHORUS

The Bella Vista Women’s Chorus invites singers from the tri-county area to join them. No experience is needed. The chorus performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Rehearsals are 12:45 p.m. Mondays in the music room of Bella Vista First United Methodist Church.

WOODCARVERS

The Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club is accepting new members for 2018, the 31st year as a club with nonprofit status.

There are carvers with various levels of carving skills from the very skilled master carvers to beginners and all levels in between. The carvers are willing to teach other members at no cost and offer carving classes from time to time. The club teaches soap carving classes to young children in the area from the Amazeum to Cub Scouts and the Bella Vista Public Library. There are several members in the club that do pyrograpy (wood burning) as well as carving, and there is also a chainsaw carver in the club. Please feel free to stop in from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista to visit the club or join for a nominal fee.

SOCIETY

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. Heather Hays from the library staff will tell about the resources available at the library for family history research. Everyone is welcome.

INTERNATIONAL

Altrusa International of Bentonville and Bella Vista meets at the River Grill in Bentonville at 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The group is an international women’s organization whose focus is children’s literacy. All are welcome.
