BENTONVILLE -- The city will start its annual fall leaf curbside pickup Dec. 4.

City crews will collect bags through Dec. 15. Crews will travel all streets one time and will not repeat routes for bags placed after Dec. 4, according to a news release.

Rules for the collection are as follows:

• Leaves only. No limbs will be collected.

• Leaves need to be bagged. The city will not supply or sell bags for this program.

• Bags need to be placed by the street by 8 a.m. Dec. 4.

• Bags need to be securely closed and placed within 10 feet from the curb or edge of street. Place bags away from normal trash collection.

• Do not place bags in drainage ditches or where they may adversely affect drainage or present a safety hazard.

• Commercial properties and apartment complexes are not included in this program, only single-family homes and duplexes.

• Crews will not enter private property to collect bags. Bags not near the street will not be collected.

• Property owners will be responsible for proper disposal of leaves not collected after Dec. 15.

Property owners can dispose of leaves themselves at the city's compost facility at 2000 N.W. A St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The facility accepts grass, leaves, brush and limbs from city residents with a copy of a utility bill and photo ID.

The facility will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observation of Thanksgiving. It will be open Saturday, according to the release.
