Man, 24, arrested in corgi's injuries

FAYETTEVILLE -- An Oklahoma man has been arrested after, police said, he kicked and seriously injured a dog earlier this year, according to a preliminary police report.

Mason Pitts, 24, of 3514 Springwood St. in Ponca City was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

A woman told police in May that her boyfriend had hurt her corgi, according to a preliminary report. The dog had a collapsed lung and was struggling to breathe. The dog also had a broken leg.

Two veterinarians agreed that the dog's injuries were from being hit multiple times, the report says.

Pitts told police he kicked the dog once when it tried to bite him, according to the police report. Pitts also said he hated the dog.

Pitts was released Saturday from the Washington County jail on a $2,500 bond. A hearing in the case is set for Nov. 22, according to the jail's online records.
