FAYETTEVILLE — An Oklahoma man has been arrested after police said he kicked and seriously injured a dog earlier this year, according to a preliminary police report.

Mason Pitts, 24, of 3514 Springwood St. in Ponca City was arrested Saturday in connection with aggravated animal cruelty.

A woman told police in May that her boyfriend had hurt her Corgi dog, according to a preliminary report. The dog had a collapsed lung and was struggling to breath, the report shows. The dog also had a broken leg bone.

Two veterinarians agreed the dog’s injuries were from being hit multiple times, the report says.

Pitts told police he kicked the dog once when it tried to bite him, according to the police report. Pitts also said he hated the dog, according to the report.

Pitts was released Saturday from the Washington County Detention Center with a $2,500 bond. A hearing in the case is set for Nov. 22, according to detention center online records.
