Bentonville center to celebrate 1 million visitors

BENTONVILLE -- The Community Center will hold a celebration Monday as it is expecting its 1 millionth visitor next week, according to a news release.

The center's attendance has exceeded expectations since opening June 6, 2015. It sees about 1,500 people daily, according to the release.

There will be a daylong celebration to recognize this milestone Monday. There will be treats, refreshments and giveaways. Mayor Bob McCaslin will give an award to honor the 1 millionth visitor at noon.

The center has hosted state swim meets, softball World Series teams, 80,000 children in the Kids Center, 130,000 fitness class participants and 7,000 swim lesson students, according to the release.

The Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association named the center the Facility of the Year in 2016.

The center is at 1101 S.W. Citizens Circle.
